Yes. Before your first appointment, you will receive secure online intake and consent forms through Jane. These forms help your therapist understand your needs and explain important information about confidentiality, privacy, fees, cancellation policies, and your rights as a client. You are welcome to ask questions before providing consent.

Your first therapy session focuses on getting to know you, understanding what has brought you to counselling, and discussing what you hope to explore together. We may talk about your experiences, relationships, concerns, and preferences while moving at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You do not need to have everything figured out before we begin.

Availability
& Rescheduling

Our Ontario psychotherapy services support individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship difficulties, shame, grief, trauma-related concerns, and major life transitions. We also provide support for emotional avoidance, pregnancy and postpartum experiences, parenting challenges, ADHD and autism, executive functioning, burnout, addictive processes, and disordered eating. Additional training in children’s therapy informs our understanding of childhood experiences, emotional development, and family relationships. Our approach is trauma-informed, attachment-focused, AEDP-informed, IFS-informed, and somatic.

Therapy may be worth considering if you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck in recurring patterns, or curious about understanding yourself and your relationships more deeply. You do not need a diagnosis, a crisis, or a specific problem to seek counselling. Your first session offers an opportunity to discuss your concerns, ask questions, and explore whether working together feels like a good fit.

You are welcome to discuss involving a partner, family member, or trusted friend in your therapy session. We can explore whether their participation supports your goals and discuss confidentiality, consent, and appropriate boundaries beforehand. Couples counselling and parenting support sessions may also involve partners when clinically appropriate.

Virtual therapy sessions should take place somewhere private where you can speak openly without being overheard. Public spaces, including libraries, cafés, and parks, may not offer enough privacy to protect your confidentiality. A quiet room at home, a private office, or a parked vehicle may be more appropriate. Please do not attend sessions while driving.

Joining our Team

Yes. We welcome applications from clinicians interested in joining Anchor Point & Associates. Interviews are anticipated to begin in January 2027, and early applicants will be considered first. If our approach resonates with you, we would love to hear from you.

We look for clinicians with a strong understanding of trauma, emotional attunement, and experiential processing. We value the ability to remain present with clients through difficult experiences while supporting meaningful exploration and change. Just as importantly, we seek people who want to grow, support their colleagues, and contribute to a thoughtful, collaborative psychotherapy practice.
Applicants must hold a master’s degree and be registered with an appropriate provincial regulatory body. We prioritize Registered Psychotherapists, including those with qualifying status, and seek clinicians who approach their work from a bottom-up, experiential perspective.

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy informs the foundation of our work. Applicants with AEDP training, including completion of or enrollment in AEDP Immersion or Level 1 training, will be prioritized.
Additional training we value includes Internal Family Systems, trauma-informed care, Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, the Gottman Method, and Intimacy From the Inside Out.
Our work is grounded in emotional awareness, relational safety, and a compassionate understanding of protective responses and the self.

Not currently. We are exploring future opportunities to welcome counselling and psychotherapy practicum students as our practice grows.
Our longer-term vision includes developing community-focused initiatives that increase access to mental health support for people facing barriers to care. We will share updates when student placement opportunities become available.
